BILLY
RAYMOND
EPILOGUE
Entertainers believe that, after an evening’s entertainment and all the songs have been sung, the audience leave and soon forget what they have seen and heard.

This could not be further from the truth.  When a song is sung well, with honesty and belief in the words of the song, these moments stay in the memory and, when there are bad times, the memory of the melody and the singer returns to soothe and relax, maybe even evincing an unseen smile as the song “echoes in the canyons of your mind”.

Once in a lifetime you hear a voice, a special voice, that you never can, and never will, forget.  For me, that voice belongs to Billy Raymond.

Thank you, Billy, for all the songs you have sung, the gags you have cracked, the impersonations you have made.  I’m sorry I was not there to see you being the star I always knew you would be.  You have given a lot of pleasure to a lot of people down the years and hopefully will continue to do so for many years to come.

You have been, and continue to be, an ambassador for all that is best of Scotland, and it is to the shame of the Scottish entertainment industry that your achievements go unrecognised in your homeland.

The gift of this website comes from me to you with love.
