Billy was compère of the Gene Vincent and Eddie Cochran touring show in 1960 and is mentioned, or is quoted, in this book on pages 31, 36, 39-40, 42, 44, 54, 64, 73, 75.
2. “American Rock’n’Roll - The UK Tours 1956-72” by Ian Wallis (2003), ISBN: 0-9519888-6-7, ISBN-13: 978-0-9519888-6-2. Billy is mentioned 3 times, on pages 60, 66 and 69, simply saying he is the compere of the touring shows.
3. Billy was also mentioned on pages 79 and 80 of Colin Bean’s autobiography “Who Do You Think You Are Kidding?”(published by Edward & George, 1998, updated 2003). Mr Bean played Private Sponge in the comedy series “Dad’s Army”. Billy worked with him in the pantomime “Aladdin” at the Theatre Royal Bolton, when Billy played Wishee Washee, Clinton Ford was Widow Twankey and Mr Bean played the Emperor.
4. Billy also featured in an “Elvis” picture book in the 1960s with a photo taken while he was with HMV Records and “Spot The Tune” with all the “stars” of the era.
