However, by 1982 Billy was again doing shows on the Club circuit, this time at the Sir Joseph Banks Theatre Restaurant with a show called “An Evening in Scotland” and, for the venue’s Christmas show, “A Christmas in Scotland”. Billy, who starred and co-wrote the show, is quoted as saying “The show is much tighter now. We are extremely pleased with the reception it has got. The audience participation has been fantastic.” Audience participation is a feature of the show, which takes the form of a sing-along after each performance and gives patrons a chance to meet the cast. Other cast members were accordionist Arthur Spink, soprano Jennifer Shaw, piper Robert Pearse and comedian Larry Burns.
Also for Bankstown RSL Billy co-wrote with Lee Young three new shows: “Ragtime Follies” (a Roaring Twenties type show); “Not on your Telly” (a send-up of TV) and “At Enormous Expense”. All three shows were scheduled to run for a 10-week period.
